Lincoln is known as a cathedral city. It is a county town in the East Midlands of England. Lincoln is settled in the Lincoln Cliff of London. It attracts tourists by its landscapes, heritage and traditions that certainly got the fair share. No doubt that in Lincoln there is no shortage of activities. There are lots of things to do in Lincoln starting with holy Bishop’s Palace. It is one of England’s elegant old cities, governed by its great cathedral, high on a hill. But it also has many smaller-scale wonders too that you will see after visiting the place.

1.) Brayford Waterfront

The Brayford Waterfront comprises of the city’s former inland port called as the Pool. It is fed by the River Witham (a 132 km length river which joining London to York, and Fosse Way, heading to Leicester and Bath). Previously it was an important handling center for agricultural products. Today, the old warehouses have been turned into restaurants and hotels catering to the visitor. It is one of the most joyful things to do in Lincoln to visit this place. There is a fine view of the cathedral from the south side.

2.) The Natural World Centre

It is located in the heart of the Whisby Nature Park (The nature reserve opened on either side of the Nottingham to Lincoln railway line). The entry is free of this centre. Here you will find some good local food, cafes, an eco-friendly shop and two exhibition halls. It is one of the most exciting things to do in Lincoln. After getting inside, you will find a team who are intent to make your visit memorable. The division of the centre is in two level the ground floor and lower floor. The design is so incredible that you would access everything. Experience marvellous walks through the Park. The park is managed by the Wildlife Trust to provide a shelter for wildlife. The main of the trust is to offer children’s activities and workshops. In December, they hold a festive craft fair which lasts long throughout the month.

3.) Lower Town

The Lower town forms a stunning contrast with the peaceful and pretty old town around the cathedral. A short distance away St Mary’s hall (a guildhall built in Coventry, England), a fine example of Norman secular architecture, was originally a royal storehouse then a guildhall with Roman excavations. Here visitors can see the famous 15th-century timbered house and the church of St Mary-le-Wigford during the early UK period. It is one of the most delightful things to do in Lincoln. Along with this can also see the Saxon tower. The St Mary’s canal was established in the 16th century with stone from a Carmelite friary.

4.) Bishop’s Palace

The palace sits in the shadow of Lincoln Cathedral. It holds an extensive view over the ancient city and the countryside. The palace built in 1163 for the bishop of Lincoln.There is one more site here which is really impressive, the undercroft East Hall built by Bishop St. Hugh. It is one of the most spiritual things to do in Lincoln.

5.) Pure Land Japanese Garden

It is a place of peace and beauty which includes a Zen garden, a pagoda and a Japanese tea house. The flowing hills and fields of Japan were the major inspiration behind the establishing this fantastic garden. A river, fields, mountains and an ocean in this crystal garden really reflects the beauty of nature. The visit to this place become more prominent if you are visiting it between August and September as traditional Japanese lanterns lit up. It is one of the most amazing things to do in Lincoln.

6.) Cogglesford Watermill

This place has won ‘Pride of Place’ award. The watermill is 3 storeys building with an undershot internal water wheel and two sets of millstones. The Mill is just at 30 minutes drive from the south of Lincoln. The Mill was mainly built in the 18th century. You can see it working on a special event day only. The working of the Mill is same as it’s been 200 years ago. The wholemeal flour made using organic wheat is sold in the Mill Shop. The shop includes items from local producers and suppliers.

7.) Lincoln Castle

Lincoln Castle was built by the William the Conqueror in 1068 on a site maintained since the Roman period. The Castle hosts events programme throughout the year. 8.) St Katherine’s Heritage and Cultural Centre

St Katherine’s is lively and emerging as a heritage centre, educational venue and cultural resource for the local community. It is a 19th-century building that stands on the site of the Gilbertine Priory of St. Katherine. In the Medieval period, the monastery was at the heart of the local community outside the Lincoln.  9.) Lincoln Cathedral

The Lincoln Cathedral was built in the 15th century to give the collection of books a secure home. It is a timber-framed building with a superbly decorated roof furnished with wood. It’s ruined gallery was rebuilt in the 17th century by the then Dean. The building is now used by postgraduates, school children, and college students in pursuit of knowledge. Visit the Medieval Libraries to see a collection of rare and precious manuscripts. You can also visit books on display, some dating back to the 10th century.

10.) Rand Farm Park

The Ran Farm Park is now Lincoln leading attraction. It was begun in 1996 to offer an educational day out for visitors of all age group. Here you can interact with farm animals and pets. You can touch, cuddle and also feed them. Beside the animal farm it  has a lot more to offer for the kids. It is one of the most fun things to do in Lincoln.
